Plain English
Directory Terms, Content Rules & Privacy
This covers the free bowling tournament directory only. It is written to be read, not to be impressive. Last updated 9 September 2026.
It is free, and it stays free
Posting a tournament costs nothing. Searching costs nothing. There are no paid listings, no sponsored placement, no "featured" tier and no subscription. Every listing is ranked the same way — by date, and by distance from wherever the bowler searched. We do not collect payment details for the directory at all.
There are limits on how many tournaments one account can post in a day, but they exist to stop spam, not to sell you a bigger plan. If you run a large association and hit one, email jkbracketspro@yahoo.com and we will raise it. There is no charge for that either.
Who may post
Anyone authorised to advertise a real, organised bowling tournament held in the United States. Your tournament does not have to use J&K Brackets Pro software, and it does not have to offer brackets. House tournaments, association events, scratch tours, charity events, youth and senior events and sweepers are all welcome.
By posting you are confirming that you are entitled to advertise that event and to upload that flyer.
What may be posted
A listing must describe a genuine bowling tournament. It must not:
- advertise something that is not a bowling tournament;
- be a duplicate of a listing that is already here;
- contain obscene, hateful or sexual content;
- be a scam, a money-making scheme, or ask bowlers to pay by wire or a cash app before the event;
- use a flyer, photograph or logo that belongs to someone else without permission;
- contain HTML, script, tracking code or any other markup — plain text only;
- be keyword-stuffed, written in capitals throughout, or otherwise written for a search engine rather than a bowler.
How listings are checked
Checks are automatic. Nobody sits and approves tournaments by hand, which is what makes it possible to keep this free and fast. When you submit, the system verifies that your email address is real, that the ZIP code matches the state, that the address can be found, that the dates make sense, that the flyer is a genuine, safe file, and that the listing does not appear to duplicate one already here.
Then one of four things happens:
- It publishes — usually within a few seconds.
- It is held — something needs checking. We email you exactly what, with a link to fix it. Corrections are re-checked immediately.
- We ask you to confirm your email — nothing publishes on an unproven address.
- It is refused — only for spam, unsafe files, or content that breaks the rules above. We tell you why, and you can reply to that email and reach a person.
We do not claim this is perfect. It is a filter with an appeal route, and every automated decision can be reversed.
Flyers
PDF, JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB. Every upload is inspected before it is published: the file must genuinely be the type it claims to be, and PDFs containing JavaScript, auto-run actions, embedded files or password protection are refused. A file's contents are checked, not just its name.
Flyers are informational. What decides your tournament's dates, location, search results and status is what you typed in the form — never what a flyer says.
If a flyer of yours has been posted by someone without permission, email jkbracketspro@yahoo.com or use Report this listing on the page, and it will be taken down.
Accuracy is the organiser's responsibility
Listings are supplied by tournament directors. J&K Brackets Pro does not run these tournaments, does not take entries, does not handle prize funds and does not verify every detail. Bowlers should always confirm dates, times, entry fees and prize funds with the organiser or the bowling center before travelling or paying anything.
A listing appearing here is not an endorsement, and we are not a party to any arrangement between a bowler and a tournament.
Reporting a listing
Every listing has a Report this listing button. A single report never takes a listing down — a correct listing should not vanish because one person misread a date. What happens instead: the organiser is told what was reported, some reports are checked automatically (a "broken registration link" is simply re-tested), and a listing is only hidden when several separate, credible reports agree, and then only until the organiser confirms the details.
How long listings last
| Upcoming tournament | Visible until its last day has passed in the bowling center's own time zone. |
|---|---|
| After it finishes | Removed from upcoming search results automatically. The page stays reachable for about 13 months for anyone holding a link, then is deleted. |
| Cancelled | Removed from upcoming results immediately. The page stays online, clearly marked cancelled, so anyone who saved the link can see what happened. |
| Held and never corrected | Withdrawn after 7 days. Your details stay saved so you can put it back. |
What we keep, and for how long
We collect only what the directory needs to work. There is no advertising network here, nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone except the services listed below that are needed to deliver the feature.
If you post a tournament
| Your email address | Used to prove it is you and to tell you about your listing. Never shown publicly unless you separately tick the box to publish a contact address — and even then, only the address you put in the public contact field. |
|---|---|
| Tournament details | Published, because that is the point. |
| Your phone number | Optional. Published only if you tick the box that says so. |
| Sign-in codes and links | Stored only as one-way hashes, and expire. We cannot read them back. |
| Your IP address | Never stored as an address. Only a one-way hash is kept, so abuse can be correlated without holding the address itself. Deleted after 3 days for rate limiting; kept longer only where it is attached to an abuse investigation. |
| Change history | A record of edits to your listing, kept about 13 months so a mistaken or malicious change can be investigated and reversed. |
If you search
Nothing is required and no account is needed. If you tap Use my current location, your position is rounded to roughly a kilometre before it is used, is never written into the address bar (so a search you share does not carry it), and is not stored.
Emails
We keep a record of which messages were sent to you and whether they arrived, for about six months, so a failed delivery can be diagnosed. The contents of a message are kept only long enough to retry a failed send — at most a few days — and messages containing a sign-in code are never stored at all.
Reminder emails can be switched off from your tournaments page. Messages you actually need — a sign-in code, or a notice that your listing is held — always come through, because withholding those would break your access rather than respect a preference.
Services we rely on
- Supabase — the database, file storage and server code.
- Netlify — serves this website.
- Resend — sends the emails.
- United States Census Bureau geocoder — turns a street address into map coordinates so distance search works. Only the address is sent.
- OpenStreetMap — the map on a tournament page, and only when you press Show map. Opening a listing does not contact them.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — a bot check on the submission form, where enabled.
Getting your data removed
You can delete any of your own listings at any time from your tournaments page. The listing disappears from the directory immediately and its flyer is deleted from storage within 24 hours.
To have your director record removed entirely, email jkbracketspro@yahoo.com from the address in question. We keep only what is needed to stop a banned account simply coming back, and we will tell you plainly what that is.
Suspension
A listing can be suspended if it breaks the rules above, and an account can be blocked for repeated or deliberate abuse. Every such action is logged, and every one can be reversed. If you think a decision is wrong, reply to the email you were sent, or write to jkbracketspro@yahoo.com.
Changes to these terms
If these rules change in a way that affects what you may post or what we keep, the date at the top of this page changes and, where it materially affects existing listings, we will email directors who have one.
